Home Updates I

I know I owe you all a thorough recap of the best bachelorette weekend I've ever been a part of and I promise to write a post later this week when I'm done traveling for work. Until then, I have a few home updates for ya...
We bought a couch! I owe a huge thank you to those who left glowing comments {on this post} about Bassett Furniture. The service and quality Bassett offered was something we couldn't pass up. We spent a bit more than we had hoped, but I can't even begin to tell you how much fun I had playing in fabric swatches, picking out legs, pillows, cushions, arm styles and more! We were able to  construct the perfect custom sofa to fit our living room! Oh, and I was cautious in picking an upholstered couch over a slip cover until I found out Bassett offers a 5 year stain guarantee. They will come out and spot clean any stain! Sold! Now we just have to wait 6 whole weeks for our beauty to arrive.
After 4 months, we finally found the perfect head chairs for our dining room table at World Market! And now that our table is finally complete you can expect that DIY Farmhouse Table tutorial I've been promising to debut sometime next week!
I snagged a $5 rug from West Elm {in the clearance section} for the kitchen.
We hung botanical prints in the master and guest bathroom. I found these framed flowers for $10 each at an estate sale.
New knobs {$8/set} from World Market for our laundry room cabinets!
We added a gorgeous upholstered headboard to our guest bed that was gifted to us by my sweet friend {Kristen}!
and a bright yellow rug {$188} from Rugs USA.

More updates to come soon!

Loving Lately

A few things I am loving lately...
Target Finds: All of which were unnecessary, but I grabbed them anyway. Target will totally do that to you. I made a trip for one thing and left with new sunglasses, a pair of cute spatulas, a $1 lime dish towel and two $1 rolls of wrapping paper. I swear that dollar section gets me every time.
Fruit Skewers: The perfect dessert for a BBQ. Just alternate strawberries with angel food cake and top with magic shell chocolate.
Seche Vite: I owe April 100% credit on this one. After raving about this product {here}, {here} and {here}, I finally decided to pick up a bottle of Seche Vite during my last trip to Ulta. Let me start by saying this top coat lives up to the hype. For a girl who pants her nails in bed and wakes up with tons of creases, this polish has been revolutionary. Not only does this seal your polish for a professional look, it fully dries in less than a minute and my manicures now lasts up to a week without chipping! For $8 a bottle, this top coat is worth every single penny. I can't believe I waited so long to try it!
Texas Caviar: Mix 1 can black eyed peas {drained & rinsed}, 1 can sweet corn, 1 can garbanzo beans, 1 small red onion {diced}, 1 small green bell pepper {diced}, 1 medium tomato {diced}, 2 tbsp green onion, 1/4 cup minced cilantro, 4 tbsp olive oil, 2 tbsp red wine vinegar, 2 tbsp kosher salt and juice of half a lime.

Weekend in Charleston: Tomorrow morning a group of rowdy girls will be departing for a weekend of Bachelorette fun in Kiawah Island!

Thyme for Herbs III

Even as an amateur cook I have to admit, freshly picked herbs are more delicious than anything you’ll find on a spice rack. Herbs like basil, parsley and oregano growing on your porch will not only spice up your cooking and baking but will save you oodles of cash. Gone are the days when you have to spend $4 for a container of fresh rosemary, when all you need is a teaspoon.
This weekend Matt and I finally planted our herb garden. Our first stop was Home Depot where we found herbs on sale (FIVE for $10)! I couldn’t resist a good deal so I picked up 10 pots of herbs (several were duplicates).
We also grabbed some fertilizer since we weren’t planning to change the soil in our last pot. And speaking of our last herb garden, we were surprised to find that our 2012 oregano, rosemary and mint managed to survive through the winter and months of neglect...
We re-potted our rosemary into a larger container and removed the mint all together. As a warning, I highly recommend potting mint in it's own container. Like a weed, it spread through our garden in weeks, grew down the sides and into our yard and choked out our poor cilantro. Mean herb.
Since I’ve used jumbo popsicle sticks the past few years, I decided to splurge on vintage spoon garden markers from Curbside Pickin’s Etsy Shop this Spring. I purchased 7 stamped spoons for $18, which was the best deal I found on Etsy. My package arrived in just a few days and I love my markers so much that I wasn't so sure I wanted to stake them in dirt anymore!
I am pretty pumped about how my garden turned out. Once these suckers adjust to their new home I will be picking them like crazy.
You can also find my 2011 and 2012 herb gardens {here} and {here}.
