Weekend Rewind

Another good weekend in the books! A few highlights...
Friday night it was pouring down rain when I arrived home. I was just about to begin the dinner time drill of heating up as many frozen items I could find for the minis when Matt called me and declared he was taking us out for pizza (and beer)! So yeah, the weekend was off to a solid start.
Another mom suit from CupShe -- $20! But it goes on sale every other day for $13!
Saturday we didn't have any plans so off to the pool we went to let the kiddos burn off some energy.
I am literally going to cry the day my minis outgrow hooded towels. We just received this whale and anchor hooded towel set and they are hands down the softest and most absorbent towels ever.

The rest of the day we ran our usual errands -- grocery store, coffee shop, dry cleaner, Home Depot, took a walk, etc.
After the kiddos went to bed Matt and I retreated to the backyard for a date nite. We sipped vodka cherry lemonades, played Jenga (loser had to refill drinks!), grilled steaks and relaxed.
Sunday we made a trip to the mall. But first we put on a tad of makeup -- Caroline's idea, not mine. I swear Caroline is turning into a little mini-me more and more each day. She must apply chapstick anytime she catches me applying it, carries a purse anytime we leave the house, loves to "halp mommy cook" and more. But I digress!

We wandered around the mall long enough to pick up a few things for Matt including some new shoes, work pants and even convinced him to get some non dad jeans. I replenished my favorite moisture surge face cream, moisture surge night cream and Matt convinced me to get some new Steve Madden sunnies on super sale (which Caroline confiscated immediately). Oh, and we threw pennies into the fountain because we had to follow through on our "don't be naughty and I'll give you some pennies" threat/bribe so we could complete our shopping spree in record timing!

Sunday night we successfully tricked the kids into going to bed one hour early which rounds out the weekend as the finale highlight! And then we ate Brioche Shrimp Rolls for dinner and binged on Stranger Things.

And that is a wrap on the weekend.

Five on Friday!

Happy Friday!
{supper cluuuuuuuuuuuub}
one. Last week my friend Meghan hosted Supper Club in her pretty home! All the ladies had a great time!
two. These two minis...always, always playing together. Throughout the past few months at daycare drop-off and pick-up Caroline has been super territorial over her Thomas. Her classmates love baby Thomas and always run over to say hello and Caroline makes it very clear that he is all hers. I also love that they've been playing together on the playground.
Note: hands in pockets. Kills me.
When I receive these pictures from their teachers I literally want to pack up my bag and sprint to daycare and hug them.

three. Check out our Ikea table makeover! Just kidding. This is my good friend McKinsey's latest DIY. She took a plain Ikea Children's table and gave it an incredible makeover!

I so wish our table and chairs looked this good. The reality is our set is completely stained with food and marker. But McKinsey's tables make me want to break out my paint!

four. Earlier this week I rallied five of my mama friends for a play date to go see Bad Moms at Studio Movie Grill! We all agreed the movie was definitely a must-see for mamas and it had us all laughing the entire time. We also agreed SMG was the best theater venue for the movie so we could order appetizers, dinner, dessert and cocktails throughout the film.
A huge thanks to SMG for providing me tickets to Bad Moms!
Yep, we partied like moms!

five. Next month I turn 30! It's hard to believe this milestone is already upon us because I've been planting a seed for a 30th birthday destination vacation since I turned 28 (ha!). Matt took note and is whisking me away to Jamaica in a few weeks for FOUR nights! We booked our vacation forever ago in January and now that it's almost here I need to start thinking about things to bring.

So here's where I need some help -- the last time we spent this much time together was our honeymoon! The only thing I know for sure we're bringing so far is lots of adult, two player games including Uno, Table Topics, Phase Ten, Skip Bo and Bananagrams!

So tell me about your favorite:

2. A strong mosquito repellent with deet to avoid Zika! Wipes? Bracelets? Spray?
3. Beach reads! I haven't read a book in 25 months sooooo...

Summertime Caprese Salad

I am clinging to all things summer for as long as possible. We have been having so much fun in our backyard on the weekends and Matt and I have been hosting little date nights on the porch after the kiddos go to bed. Last weekend we grilled steaks and broccolini for dinner, but the summery appetizer is what stole the show for me - caprese salad!
This app wins for a variety of reasons. It requires 4 ingredients, takes about 6 minutes to throw together and it's delicious! In fact, we made this twice over the weekend!

Caprese Salad: On a plate alternate sliced tomatoes, thick sliced mozzarella cheese and basil leaves. Drizzle with balsalmic glaze. Enjoy!

*If you don't have balsalmic glaze on hand you can create a balsalmic reduction instead. Although I prefer the glaze because it keeps the recipe quick and I like that it's a bit thicker.

Other favorite caprese recipes I've created in the past...
