Caroline's Big Girl Room Plans

Every time I post an insta-story from Caroline's room I receive these top two questions: 1. WHERE is that bedding from?!!?! And 2. Room reveal soon?!

 

To answer question #1, Caroline's bedding is from Target (find it here). This pretty comforter set was SO inexpensive (less than $30) and has held up so well. We have these adorable heart sheets as well as these cute ice cream sheets for backup -- both are super soft. 

 

As for question #2, we have sloooooowly been piecing Caroline's room together since we moved in. Most of her room consists of items we repurposed from our old home but we still have a few things left to do. I promise to do a room reveal post within the next 10 years, but in the meantime, here is the inspiration behind Caroline's big girl room...

A Spike to be Celebrated!

Hello, from the car! We are en route back to Charlotte after 5 days home in Florida!

Home was...good. And hard, per usual. Dad is doing fantastic, which you would think would be cause for celebration -- and it is! He has been sleeping in his own bed next to mom instead of our living room hospital bed for weeks now. He isn't in any pain or taking any pain medication. He's eating really well. He is no longer hooked up to any tubes. He is standing up by himself...and even taking a few steps at a time with a walker. So while it is so wonderful to see him doing so well, it literally scares the shit out of me. You see, hospice has told us that this isn't uncommon. Sometimes cancer patients (especially those who have been on treatment for years can have this burst of energy once the chemo leaves their system...and then they rapidly decline. So we are taking it day by day and enjoying this beautiful spike in quality of life for as long as we have it!

For the first time in months Dad was able to grill the steaks for Sandroni Steak Night (with a lot of supervision and many sitting breaks, but still!!!!). It was the best steak I've had in my life.

Oh! And another really cool thing! From time to time screech-owls will come and live in my parents' backyard oasis. It truly is a tropical paradise back there so it's no surprise that owls come and stay for a few weeks at a time. The kids got such a kick out of visiting Mr. Hootie 45345934 times a day. But seriously, how beautiful is that little guy?!  

Dad finally got an electric wheelchair from hospice and has been loving the extra freedom it gives him to move around. So we took a lot of walks and on Sunday he rolled up to church with the grandbabies taking turns riding in his lap along the way.

On our last night we celebrated mom's belated birthday with a delicious family dinner at Bonefish. And now we're on the 23945098345203498223484543 mile journey back to Charlotte...

one. On Monday I got to hang out with my sweet friend and talented makeup artist, Lindsey Regan Thorne, for a super fun makeup lesson! A long, very sweet story short...a few months ago Matt asked LRT for a list of makeup must-haves and then surprised me one day with a ton of new makeup that he knew I'd never buy for myself (yes, he is seriously the most thoughtful person of all time). Then, LRT offered to teach me how to use all my new products. The lesson was life changing. She gave me tons of tips and taught me new techniques that have made such a difference in my makeup routine! In fact, I loved my makeup from the lesson so much that I slept in it overnight to wear it a second day.

two. Matt and the kiddos surprised me with this gorgeous bouquet of flowers for my birthday on Monday. Four days later they are still going strong!

three. I snagged this super cute Garden Party blouse during the Loft sale! I liked it online but I love it even more in person.

four. I was cleaning out my camera roll yesterday and found this fun picture from Food Truck Friday a few weeks ago. My friend Brooke and I are the social chairs for our HOA and thought a neighborhood gathering at the food truck rally down the street would make for a fun Friday evening. And it was! We had a strong turnout and stayed way past the kiddos bed time.

five. Target is seriously killing it lately with their shoes and accessories. I usually shop online to scale back on unnecessary impulse purchases (the cosmetic aisle gets me every time) but couldn't resist this pretty watch for $17!!! I've been wearing it every day and get so many compliments on it!
