I have another room to share with y'all today -- the playroom, which is arguably my favorite room in the house. As I've mentioned too many times, a dedicated space just for our kiddos is something we have wanted so badly for awhile -- in part for the kids, but mostly for us (ha!). As you may recall, in our previous home our family room had slowly transitioned to a play room over the years. We constantly had to move furniture around or out of the room completely just for the kids to have floor space. It wasn't the end of the world obviously (and I didn't have a "play room" growing up either and I think I turned out fine!) but there is absolutely nothing more satisfying than letting the kids destroy a room and...just...shutting the door. Can I get a hallelujah?!
In fulllllll disclosure, I need to tell you that this is the absolutely cleanest and most organized the play room has ever been, in part because Matt kept Thomas distracted while I snapped some pictures.
I have blogged about our play kitchen a million times but it has seriously been one of the very best toys we've ever purchased. A first birthday present for Caroline, this toy has grown with both kids through the years. And it doubles as storage for the rest of our toys, including play food, utensils, pots & pans. You can also find this kitchen in a variety of colors and styles here.
Oh, and I think our most fun purchase for this room was new windows. Juuuust kidding. That purchase was painful but necessary as the frames were completely rotted out. They do look pretty though and the curtains are my favorite part of the room!

My OCD heart is obsessed with these fiesta orange storage cubes for organizing toys by activity. In our last house everything was thrown into one basket which isn't nearly as fun when you're digging through legos to find your kitchen utensils.
A huge shout out to Matt (and his incredible patience) for hanging these pictures perfectly straight.
I have to LOL for a second because those markers don't actually live within toddler reach but they did make an appearance for colorful staging decor. In fact, they are kept hidden away behind lock and key since the 2016 marker incident and come out on occasion under supervision (and preferably when Thomas is not around)...
Also, I am totally nodding in agreement with your head shake on that ivory rug. It was recycled from a room in our last house and I didn't have any other place for it so we threw it in here to avoid purchasing a new rug that will ultimately get destroyed anyway.
Our frames were recycled from our previous dining room. I updated the pictures and ordered 12x 12 prints through mpix, an affordable and high quality printing service if you need a recommendation!
