You Asked! Meet my BFF Sara...

Today’s post is brought to you in response to an overwhelming number of reader requests asking for a spotlight on one of my best gal pals – Sara! I had no clue how popular her yellow dress would become when I blogged about our recent beach vacation together, but immediately after posting I started receiving dozens and dozens of emails asking for more information on where Sara shops and how she finds the most fabulous outfits. I have to agree with you all because it goes without saying that Sara is always among the best dressed in the room at every gathering. Anyway, Sara excitedly agreed to be my blog guest today (first ever, by the way!!!) and we had the best time putting this post together!

Before I turn it over to my dear friend, allow me give you a little introduction. Sara and I met in Charlotte through a mutual friend and became fast friends more than five years ago. We live three streets apart, are in supper club and play groups together, her equally awesome husband grabs a beer with mine once a week over trivia, and her adorable fireball toddler can often be found being mischievous with Caroline. Sara is honestly one of my most fun and hilarious friends and is always last to leave the party. In addition to being my partner in crime, Sara is responsible for many of my interior design decisions, the best bottles of wine I own and has monogrammed everything in my house.

Without further ado, my fabulous friend Sara…
Hey y'all! I am Sara and am so excited to be a guest feature on my dear, hilarious friend Christina's blog. I think I am still in a little shock that people really want to know what I – being a plus size gal – wears! But I know there are a lot you ladies out there and it can be extremely challenging to find cute pieces in larger sizes. So here we go!

But first, a little bit about me: I am a wife to Wyn and mama to my wild gal, Ridley (2.5 yo). We are originally from Alabama…we moved to Charlotte 6 years ago for Wyn’s job and haven’t looked back since. While I miss my family, I adore Charlotte and all of our friends that have literally turned into family. I am a decorator who loves all things beautiful for the home AND I started monogramming/embroidering a year and a half ago. I figured I was spending way too much money on my child’s monogramming, so why not start a side business? It’s been busy ever since and I could not be happier creating sweet, embroidered things for people! You can find my embroidery designs at Pearce Reed Designs or on my Instagram!

How would you describe your style? Well, my style has definitely evolved. I use to be very hippy chic, if you will. However, being plus-sized now, you have to find what looks best on you regardless of the “style”.  For obvious reasons, I naturally gravitate more toward black sometimes and definitely in the winter – it is always slimming. But no one needs a wardrobe full of black, you gotta mix it up and live a little no matter what size you are. Lately I have been wearing LOTS of bright BOLD colors this summer – especially with pops of neon pink and yellow. I LOVE fun, flirty dresses during the summer, they are always my go-to for any date night or summer soirĂ©e.

What are some of your favorite stores to shop at? My go-to stores these days are Nordstrom and Macy’s – they have some of the BEST plus size clothing out there. I think Old Navy has wonderful basics. I also find great dresses on 6pm & Zappos for a fraction of the price.

My favorite outfit in my closet right now is: My Melissa McCarthy Seven7 Print Shirred Empire Maxi Dress (and it’s on sale right now)!

What new pieces have you picked up recently for summer?
Any other pieces you'd like to see in your closet soon?
  • I know I will getting this blouse STAT while it's on sale!!!
  • This dress is on sale and I cannot pass it up!
  • My go to EVERY summer are these Rachel Pally dresses, you can’t go wrong with them…while they are expensive you can find sales on Zappos sometimes. Love this color
When putting an outfit together my best style tip is: I definitely believe every girl needs to accessorize – I cannot preach that enough. You can have a simple monochromatic dress and make it pop with the right earrings or necklace as well as a cute clutch or over-the-shoulder bag. I do think less is more sometimes, but it never hurts to have one accessory that just makes the entire outfit POP.
I never leave the house without: EARRINGS!!!!

Who is your favorite fashion blogger or fashion icon? If you can’t already tell, my fashion icon is actress and designer Melissa McCarthy. She has such fabulous taste, makes gorgeous clothes for bigger gals and is the funniest woman out there. I hope to meet her one day!

Hope y'all enjoyed this post and happy shopping! Thanks for popping in, Sara!!! xo

Morgan Alexandra

 Happy Cinco de Mayo!
Today I have something awesome to share with y'all. If you're a long time reader of mine you know that outside of giveaways I don't ever feature sponsors, shops, products, etc. on this little blog of mine. However, today is an exception...because she is that awesome and I personally love her to pieces. My very talented cousin-in-law, Morgan, has officially launched her new business and website - Morgan Alexandra!

Remember the gorgeous handmade Caroline Grace watercolor print we hung in our nursery? A lot of you asked where you could find one. Well, you're in luck because you can now purchase a custom watercolor print at Morgan Alexandra's Etsy Shop for $15!

And right now Morgan is generously offering a 20% discount to my readers. Just use promo code carolinegrace at checkout. Visit her shop {here}!
Meet this cute-as-a-button girl behind the brand...
Hi everyone! I'm so excited to be here today on Christina's blog! I'm so blessed and thankful to be able to call her family since she's married to my oldest cousin Matt! I am a designer and paper lover from the lovely state of North Carolina. I had a dream of owning a little paper shop one day but I always seem to let fear stand in my way. After hearing some incredible women talk about their stories (Lara Casey, Emily Ley & so many more), I finally decided that fear isn't a good a enough reason because God is SO much bigger than fear. So with a completely unrelated bachelor's degree and countless hours of teaching myself design, Morgan Alexandra was created. I want my products to reflect what really matters in life and be a beautiful print hanging on a wall in a home or office!

Obsessed yet? You can also follow Morgan here:

Grandma's Cinnamon Rolls

Sometimes I wonder how our Grandma's came up with so many good ole' fashioned recipes without the help of Pinterest. Handwritten and passed down, these are truly some of the best recipes out there that everyone loves and enjoys.

This morning we enjoyed one of the best breakfasts we've had in a very long time - a large pan of delicious handmade RoRo's Cinn-A-Rolls, sent to use with love from my blog friend Amy Collins, Founder/Owner of RoRo's Baking Company. Representing family, tradition and love, Amy started RoRo's Baking company to bring back memories of her Grandma's hot, yummy rolls that she was so famous for in Dallas. How cool is that?! You can read more about her story {here}!
Arriving frozen on dry ice, these rolls looked unbelievable even before we popped them into the oven!
If you're looking for a sweet gift to send to a new mommy, friend, family member, co-worker, etc. you must check out RoRo's Cinn-A-Rolls.
Thank you, Amy, for sharing RoRo's Cinn-A-Rolls with us this morning!

Strawberry Sour Cream Pie

I am kicking off Monday with some strawberry sweetness over at one of my favorite blogs - Two Delighted. If you don't already follow them, you should. Colleen & Meg are the most adorable, fun and creative sisters I know and I am honored to be guest posting over at their blog while they are in Europe!
Stop by and say hello.

Strawberry Sour Cream
Adapted by Worth the Whisk

Ingredients
1 unbaked, premade deep dish pie crust
1 quart fresh strawberries
1 cup flour
1 1/4 cup sugar, reserve 1 tablespoon
Dash salt
1 cup sour cream {not fat-free}

Directions
Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Hull and wash the strawberries and slice them in half. Set aside. Sift flour, sugar, and salt into a large mixing bowl. Add sour cream, blending until creamy. Gently fold in the berries without over-mixing. Pour fruit into pie shell and spread to edges without packing down — there should be spaces throughout the filling. Sprinkle the top with the last 1 tablespoon sugar. Bake the pie for 10 minutes, then reduce the heat to 350 degrees {you can leave the oven door open a minute during this period to let the temperature drop a little} and bake an additional 30 minutes or until crust is golden brown. Broil the pie for 2-3 minutes to brown up the top. Allow to cool completely before cutting.
