SNOW DAY!

Yesterday Charlotte got 3 inches of snow which pretty much paralyzed the city, giving us the very best snow day. No seriously, it was the best!
Matt must have made 40 snow balls for the kids to throw. There are snow angels all over our backyard. And a pile of soggy wet clothes by the back door. These are the days!

To thaw the kiddos out, I whipped up some hot chocolate with extra marshmallows, which I later regretted at nap time.
All day I slow cooked Chicken, Kale + Sweet Potato soup in the crock pot.

And I just got the text -- school is closed again today.

Snowpocolpyse Weekend!

Charlotte got an inch of snow over the weekend which is a BIG deal. The entire city shuts down -- literally bread flies off the shelf, ABC stores have lines out the door, etc. We were all too excited to hunker down this weekend, play in the snow, binge watch The American and simmer soup in the crockpot. The forecast predicted a decent snow fall but it ended up being a lot lighter than everyone had hoped. Anyway, a few snow weekend pictures...
After a quick family selfie -- Caroline's request obviously, we strolled down the street to meet our friends at a neighborhood party. There were tons of kids rolling around in the snow, a food truck and lots of parents excited to be out of the house.
Caroline and Thomas experience their first sled ride...which ended a little off course. Both laughed hysterically and were begging to go down the tiny hill over and over and over.
Have you ever seen a more determined face?
In typical best friend fashion, Lisa had a mimosa poured and ready for our arrival.
To thaw out we headed down the street to another snowmageden party. It is still undecided who had more fun -- the kids or the adults.
On Sunday the roads were cleared up so a group of girls gathered to celebrate Abby's baby shower over brunch!
A few of the ladies!
For dinner (both nights) we enjoyed crockpot chicken enchilada soup (one of our very favorites)!

Christmas is Coming...

35 days until Christmas! Can you believe it?

I finally got around to removing the dead mums and pumpkins off my front porch. Swapping out oranges for reds and pumpkins for pinecones, I am so happy with our new winter porch! It's such a cozy reminder of how close Christmas is!
 Pillows {World Market}, Coffee Mugs {Target}, Christmas Tree {Home Depot}
Oh, and our new wreath from Lynch Creek Farm has me giddy! Not only does it look like Christmas on our porch, it's beginning to smell like it too! If you're looking for the perfect housewarming, thank you, Christmas or birthday gift, check out the amazing wreaths the LCF has to offer. I usually buy several each season to send to friends and family!
And speaking of Christmas, I have to share a sneak peek from our Christmas card shoot...
What an awesome afternoon! I got to hang with LRT for makeup & hair and Allison for our photo session. Lucky me!! These girls are rock stars!

Check out that Christmas collar on that handsome guy!

Blowing Rock Cabin Weekend

This past weekend, Matt, Charlie, and I spent 3 days in a cozy little cabin in Blowing Rock, NC.  Matt actually booked this weekend a long time ago as part one of my Christmas gifts, so I was SO excited for the weekend to finally arrive!

We spent one afternoon in downtown Blowing Rock, {which just so happened to be Winterfest}, window shopped, and ate lunch at Mellow Mushroom!
We popped in at The Barking Rock Pet Boutique & Bakery to get a little snack for Charlie.
