Coffee Talk

If we were having coffee together I'd tell you...
Caroline hasn't had a night terror since we stopped dressing in her footed pajamas. This was one of the weirdest yet easiest suggestions we received and I cannot believe that it worked. I've also been told that night terrors come and go based on development so maybe we're on break for now. Regardless, I am relieved our little babe is resting peacefully these days again.

Moving sucks. Like, really bad. It's taken weeks of late nights to box up our house and I never want to do this again. We don't even have a huge home yet we seem to have acquired so many unnecessary things liiiiiike a playstation, 35832750435 DVDs, half used candles, so many unused wedding gifts that end with "maker" (ie: brie maker, waffle maker, etc.) and SO much more. Why? Whyyyyyyyy????

Caroline turns 3 in a few weeks and I'm planning to host her birthday party in our new house. There will be plenty of unfurnished rooms, zero crafted decorations and tons of unpacked boxes but I'm hoping to pull off a low key party shortly after we move in. She requested a "yellow" party soooo hopefully I can at least find the party box with the yellow streamers in the next few weeks...and the wine glasses. Definitely the wine glasses.

I experienced severe mommy-guilt last week. One morning at drop-off, Caroline's teacher pulled me aside to inform me that all the girls in her class have been in the school ballet program ALL YEAR and Caroline gets really sad when she doesn't get to go with them on Fridays to ballet class...and is even sadder when her girlfriends return to class and show off their new ballet moves. Seriously, I had to scoop my heart up off the floor and marched straight to the front office and signed her up for the last 3 classes of the year. You can find me at Target on my lunch break this week shopping for leotards.

Now tell me what's new with you!

Five on Friday!

Now that the cat is out of the bag on the house stuff it may explain my blog absence lately. There are a handful of significant issues with our new home that came up during inspections so we've literally been spending all of our non-working time on house stuff. In fact, I have been stopping by the new house 1-3 times a day to meet with contractors, drop off fixtures, answer questions, etc. It's all exciting stuff it just keeps us even busier than normal!

Anyway, a few things as of late to share...
one. Shortly after we put our home on the market a friend sent me a Saint Joseph statue to bury for good luck and an expedited home sale. I was a bit skeptical after reading the directions which included burying Saint Joseph upside down, facing the house, near the for sale sign. However, we needed all the luck and blessings we could get for a quick sale in order to purchase our new home so we decided to give this old catholic tradition a go. Now that we've sold we're supposed to dig him up and bring him to the new house for continued luck.
two. Soccer! Caroline is still loving soccer and last weekend Mimi and Grandad came to watch her play! And also watch Thomas play in the soccer goals.
three. Earlier this week a few of my girlfriends got together at Foxcroft Wine to drink some old lady Chardonnay and devour tons of yummy apps. This warm weather is just too perfect for wine nights.

four. A Food Truck Friday location just opened in our neighborhood last month! We love FTF but this one is probably the best one we've been to yet because...it is held at a church with two GATED playgrounds, a massive lawn with picnic tables, a live band and a long line of delicious food trucks! We went last week and had the very best time. Many of our neighborhood friends and C & T's classmates were there and the kids played SO hard until dark. Caroline has asked me every morning this week "Is today Friday?" and I get it...I'm ready for more tacos and beers tonight too. Now if only we could get Thomas to stay out of the sandbox (sandbox + contacts don't mix!).
five. I cut 3 inches off my hair! Matt was shocked that I actually did it since I normally chicken out and just ask for a trim.

Closing Day

I'm hoping I can hold it together as I make this announcement...
 Today we sold our home.
The home we stumbled upon by accident and fell so deeply in love with 5 years ago.
The home we spent two years together as just us.
The home we brought our first baby home to.
The home we brought our second baby home to.
The guest room that later became Thomas's room where we hosted family and friends for the weekends.
The cozy living room that actually only looked like a living room briefly -- and then became a play room...
The kitchen where we spent so much time creating delicious meals.

The bathroom where I rarely spent any time alone in.
Our bedroom that I never got around to decorating.
The backyard we hosted many friends in for game nights, dinners, and parties:
2016: Football Party // Thomas' 1st Birthday //  Caroline's 2nd Birthday
2015: TaTa Party // Caroline's 1st Birthday
2013Summer Soiree // Fiesta Engagement
The back deck where Matt and I spent many late nights together listening to music and laughing over cocktails after the kids went to bed.

The front porch I spent so much time rocking a baby on during my maternity leaves.
And of course, I'll never forget these front porch steps that we took so many photos on.
It's no surprise we've been wanting a little more space for our family for awhile now. In fact, a few years ago we almost sold our house but pulled it off the market when we found out we were pregnant with Thomas. Although 1800 square feet was the perfect size for two of us plus Charlie, things have gotten a little tight with two rambunctious toddlers and their toys. But despite living on top of each other, we knew we didn't want to move until we found our forever home -- ideally in our same neighborhood. However, we thought that would take about a decade to save for and find but our new home story turns out to be one of the craziest (and unplanned) things that has ever happened to us and we are excited to share all the details soon.

So today was actually a double closing day for us as we closed on two homes -- old and new. But we're not moving just yet! We are renting our house back for the next 10 days while we give our new home a little TLC.

However in the meantime, you can find me bawling my eyes out over closing the doors to our beloved bungalow...
