Ingredients:
1/4 cup Ground Cumin
1/4 cup Garlic Powder
1/4 cup Chili Powder
1/4 cup Onion Powder
4 tbsp Crushed Red Peper
Directions:
Mix all ingredients together! Store in freezer.
Yields approximately 1.25 cups of taco seasoning {which is more than 10 packets of store bought taco seasoning}!
Next, grab your favorite salsa {grab fresh salsa if you can}. The jars have more sodium than the kind you can find in the produce section. I've been using Jack's Special Salsa.
Season your chicken breasts with your taco seasoning and place them in your crockpot. Then dump your salsa in.
Cook on high for 4 to 6 hours or on low for 6 to 8 hours.
When done, the chicken should shred easily when stirred with a fork.
And that's how you get dinner on the table in less than 5 minutes.

I love jacks salsa!!! It is always on my Costco shopping list!
ReplyDeleteummmm yum. Thanks for this healthy alternative!
ReplyDeleteThis looks amazing! I need to try!
ReplyDeleteI love using my crockpot to make tacos! We make this almost once a week!!
ReplyDeleteThat looks yummy!
ReplyDeleteThese look so good!!! You need your own newsletter that you email with recipes or something!
ReplyDeleteThese sound delicious...I've been trying to cut out MSG (gives me headaches) and I have all these on hand for homemade taco seasoning....also I LOVE LOVE LOVE Jacks's Salsa.
ReplyDeleteNow I just need a crockpot......
We love any type of taco in our house! I for sure just need to make up my own taco mix, especially since I have all of those seasonings already on hand. Thanks for the recipe!
ReplyDeleteSo yummy! We make a similar crockpot chicken recipe and love it!
ReplyDeletethat looks AMAZE
ReplyDeleteMy mouth is now watering!! These will definitely be in the crock pot for dinner tomorrow night!! Thank you so much for sharing this recipe!
ReplyDeleteyeah girl! I make this chicken almost every other week (except I cheat and use the horrible-for-you pre-made mix). Andrew swears that it's so much better than the restaurant chicken tacos! We love to eat the chicken over rice too - just mix in black beans and corn!
ReplyDeleteOkay, wow. I am making MSG tacos tonight. Already bought the kit. Darn.
ReplyDeleteNext time I will be using this for sure.
This is in our crockpot right now! Cannot wait for dinner! Yum!
ReplyDeleteI make my own seasoning but why do you store it in the freezer? Does it keep the ingredients fresher?
ReplyDeleteThat's the same taco seasoning recipe I use! I've figured out that if I only want to make enough for one batch, I use 1 1/2 tsp. of the first 4 ingredients and a scant 1/2 tsp. of crushed red pepper flakes.
ReplyDeletethis post made me soooo hungry :)

I need to make these. I still haven't opened my crock pot. Whoops.
ReplyDeleteThis recipe looks so easy - I love it! Thanks for the tip on homemade taco seasoning, too!
ReplyDeleteI recently started making my own taco seasoning and I can't believe I didn't start sooner! Not only does it taste better, but I love knowing exactly what's in it (no mystery chemicals). Will definitely have to try this recipe!
ReplyDeleteThis look super yummy. I'm not a pinterest gal.. although I do have an "account". I'm totally writing this down and trying it. We aren't a big chicken eating couple but we've tried new things lately and have had good luck (I've had stomach issues after having 80% of it removed). The Mister will be happy about this recipe!
ReplyDeleteThis is genius! Can't wait to try!
ReplyDeleteThese tacos look so delicious! I am definitely going to make these next time I'm in the mood for Mexican!

This is one of my favorite meals...and you're right, so easy! Thanks for sharing your taco seasoning recipe. I know it's so easy to make your own, but I always seem to be picking up one of those seasoning packets. Now I am ready for next time!
ReplyDeleteThis looks delicious! And you're right, the store bought stuff does kind of creep me out. I'll definitely be making this! Thanks!
