DIY Kitchen Canisters

I have been looking for the perfect kitchen canisters for my counter tops for months. I knew I wanted clear glass, and of course labels were important too.   Each time I thought I found the perfect canisters I would walk away in sticker shock. So eventually, I decided to take matters into my own hands for a little DIY project. I was overdue for a project anyway.

And it is important to note the final cost for two kitchen canisters...    LESS THAN $20!

I found the glass canisters at Walmart for $6.97 each. You can also find these same jars in several different sizes too at Walmart.

Next, I hoped on Etsy and found the perfect labels at Little Diddy for $6.

The final product - cookies for Charlie and coffee for me! I am pretty happy with how they turned out, although the "coffee" is kind of hard to read when the jar is full. But we go through coffee so quickly that the jar is usually more empty than full anyway!

So here we go - my 5 on Friday...

 - ONE - After a million days of rain, we celebrated the sunshine with a build your own taco salad dinner on our back patio. The toppings I prepared included green onions, tomato, jimaca {my new fave ingredient}, black beans, orange bell pepper, corn and avocado. The cilantro dressing is from Trader Joes.

- TWO - Speaking of outdoors, I am totally obsessed with these Summertime Scented Candles with Citronella Oil from Nest of Posies. Just fill mason jars with mint, lemon, lime, rosemary, citronella bug off oil and water. Top with floating candles. Hello?! Where were these during my summer party?

- THREE - My newest cookbook from Southern Living that I won in a giveaway recently! I have tabbed the heck out of some of these pages!

- FOUR - I worked from our Atlanta office a few days this week. While there, I grabbed cocktails and dinner with one of my girlfriends at an amazing restaurant called KR SteakBar. The "Sophia" (bitter truth apricot liqueur, bombay london dry gin, vanilla white pepper syrup, lemon juice, prosecco) was easily one of the top 5 cocktails I've ever had in my life.
I also have to say, one of my very favorite things about waking up at an Omni hotel is the complimentary beverage service outside my door in the morning. This is 100% why I chose the Omni when traveling.

- FIVE - Matt and I are tacking on a mini beach vacation with my family while I am in Florida for work next week. Of course, with anything I plan comes an agenda, and the agenda I sent to the family for the trip is awesome. What I am most excited about? Drinking a few whiskey & cokes with my Grandpa, renting scoot coupes, fishing, and eating every meal at Grills Seafood Deck & Tiki Bar.

2nd Annual Green River Cove Tubing Trip

Well, we had an extremely successful 2nd Annual Green River Cove Tubing Trip on Saturday! The weather was sunny and beautiful, the river was empty, the beer was cold and our water shoes were awesome.

As soon as everyone arrived we blew up our coolers, filled them to the brim with ice and beer and piled into the truck for Saluda.     After our Styrofoam cooler fail last year, we decided to splurge on Intex Mega Chill Floating Coolers.

We also learned our lesson last year that we each definitely needed a pair of water shoes. I picked up a pink pair for me and a gray pair for Matt for $5 each at Walmart.

When we arrived we opted for the double tubes for the 3 mile lazy adventure.

Of course we took a few photos and then into the river we went!
