Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend! I cannot believe how quickly the holiday flew by. Here is a recap of our holiday in photos!
Thursday
We spent turkey day in Winston this year with Matt's family. He has a large family so it is always so great to see everyone in one place! After a delicious meal we headed to his grandparents house down the road to decorate their home for Christmas!
{most of the cousins - missing a few!}
Black Friday
Let me just say that Black Friday turned out completely opposite as I had planned. For the past week, I have had a very detailed shopping plan of attack consisting of World Market, Crate & Barrel, Restoration Hardware, Pottery Barn and more. Well that all changed when Matt and I decided to scratch our shopping plans and start a new project - building {this} farmhouse dining table for our new home. So we spent a majority of our Black Friday shopping at Home Depot.
While Matt was hard at work, I decided to cook a little {16 lb} turkey for ourselves. This was the first time I ever cooked a turkey so I was a little nervous. With the help an incredible brine recipe {here} our turkey turned out delicious!
Saturday
Saturday we spent most of the day watching football, specifically Ohio State vs. Michigan and Florida vs. Florida State. Both Matt and I were pretty happy with both of our teams. Later we had 3 other couples over for a game night. We played my favorite game in the world, "things..." If you don't already own this, I highly suggest asking Santa for it.
Sunday
Sunday we went Christmas tree shopping at a small lot at the end of our street. For the past 3 years we have ended up with a "Charlie Brown" style Christmas tree since our living room was so tiny. But now that we are in our new house with much taller ceilings, we sprung for an 8 foot tree! More details and pictures to come in a separate post on our tree and Christmas decorations around the house.
Stay tuned for a fabulous giveaway tomorrow...
I didn't think about the size of your last place and having a tree. WOW!! I bet you're STOKED!! We use my pencil tree I brought into the marriage. It fits nice in the space that we have but I can't wait to get a real house and have a real tree too!!
ReplyDeletei love that table. I bet it was much more affordable then buying from the store :)
ReplyDeletePost how it turns out!
Some friends of ours introduced us to The Game of Things a year or so ago and it is a huge favorite of ours as well! :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE that table! I am sure that yall built it MUCH cheaper than what you could have bought it for, ha! Can't wait to see how it looks in your NEW home :)
ReplyDeletePerfect weekend! Love your Thanksgiving outfit.
ReplyDeleteI love things! Such a great game! Sounds like an amazing holiday!
ReplyDeleteCANNNOT Wait to see the decorations and xmas tree. I also cannot wait for Santa to bring me "Things." Travis already said he couldn't wait to play again :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect weekend!!
ReplyDeleteI love Game of Things. It's a blast!
What a fun weekend! My husband went to School of the Arts in Winston. Lots of fun memories in that city:)
ReplyDeleteLove the table, except for one little detail....I don't like the cross bracing piece of wood at the end of the table. That wood is shin height and it prevents a person from having any leg room. It interferes with the ability to pull the chair up to the table and have leg and foot space for your legs. I hate getting my shins banged up on the wood the entire meal.
ReplyDeleteI sat at a table just like this at a restaurant and was miserable the entire time.
Can your husband change the design of how the table is braced for stability?
i own THAT farm table from RH (no we did not make it) #notascoolasyouandmatt #wesuck
ReplyDeleteSounds like a perfect holiday weekend, and I'm so anxious to try this game. I love game nights with the family. :)
