- TWO - You know those gorgeous ferns hanging from our porch {here}? Well, I killed them - and kind of on purpose. You see, this cute lil family of birds came to live in them and we didn't have the heart to bother them by shoving a watering can into their house, so we let them turn brown and crispy. I'm sure our neighbors hated us for awhile. They were such an eyesore. Anyway, the birds either had their babies and flew away, or they thought their house was so ugly that they move somewhere else. Regardless, I've been on a fern revival mission the past few weeks. I found an awesome fern pin and it's been working like a charm...
The trick: every couple of days submerge your ferns in a large bucket filled with 1/2 cup of epsom salts and 3 gallons of water until the soil stops bubbling. Then hang up to drip dry.
- THREE - Angel Food Bundt Cake with chocolate and butterscotch chips. Yep, this happened this week! It's not the prettiest cake I've made but it sure is delicious. Next time I think I'll throw the chips in half way through the baking process so they don't immediately sink to the bottom {top}.
- FOUR - A little "Welcome Gift" for my newest coworker's first day!
Nail polish, EOS chapstick, my favorite Sharpie pens & gum - all in a cute mason jar tumbler.
- FIVE - We are camping in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains this weekend! One of my top 5 favorite things to do {and the reason why I moved to NC}, I am hoping the rain holds up for us.
S'more granola, campfire, stars, fresh air and lots of happy trees? YES - take me there now!
Our snacks are packed and ready to go!
S’more Granola: granola, mini marshmallows & dark chocolate M&Ms!

ReplyDeletes'more granola! Yes please! You always have the best 5 on Friday posts. We've had plants die because of bird's nests too....I would much rather have that happen then have the birdies kicked out of their nest! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my favorite 5 On Fridays of yours because there is just SO.MUCH.GOODNESS here! The banner is to die for ... and gracious, can you hire me just so I can get a first day gift?! If it were my first day on a new job and I was given that, I would feel so welcome. ReplyDeleteThat s'mores granola is so cute and looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteThe S'mores granola looks To. Die. For. - think I could get away with making it and camping in the living room to enjoy it??
ReplyDeleteLove that garland! That would be super easy and cheap to make for the baby shower I'm hosting next month! And that new co-worker gift? Adorable!
ReplyDeleteYour garland looks fantastic! Did you cut all the paper yourself? Labor of love!
ReplyDeleteI love that you always use your own photos on your blog. It's so fun that way and your pictures are always so pretty!
Have a great time camping!
Thanks friend! Oh yes, truly a labor of love. I think I cut 2,500 paper rectangles for (2) 20 foot garlands!

Where did you get the mason jar tumbler from?? So cute, and it's exactly what I've been looking for to drink my morning smoothie!
ReplyDeleteIt's from TJ Maxx. I've also seen them at Marshalls! :)

ReplyDeleteLove how you've revived your ferns. And that garland - so cute!
ReplyDeleteI sewed a fun garland with circles for my daughter's first bday. It's amazing how something so easy and cheap makes such a bold statement!!
ReplyDeleteI love that garland. I never think of using my sewing machine for things like sewing paper, but that's genius! And I'm totally drooling over your smores granola. YUM.
ReplyDeleteThe bundt cake looks really delicious. You can toss the chocolate chips with some flour before adding them in and that will help them from sinking to the bottom. That usually works when I'm making bread or muffins with chocolate chips, so I'd think it would work with a cake.
ReplyDeleteYep I was going to say the same thing! Toss your chips in flour before adding them to the batter and they will not sink.
DeleteThe welcome gift is such a cute idea! And love the smore granola for your camping trip!! Have fun this weekend!!!
ReplyDeleteAm loving the garland you're sewing. Congrats on finally putting your machine to use. SO need that table. I always end up at the dining room table and my children get into my projects. Will have to be on the lookout the next time I'm at Wal-Mart.
