Happy 1st day of Spring! It looks like it's going to be a beautiful weekend ahead and I am so excited to get out in the yard and replace our dead mums with Spring flowers, take some long walks and grill out.
Also, to make up for my absence this week I've got 6 things today.
- ONE - Work has been insanely busy and I am so thankful to have ended several days this week with a family picnic and playtime on a blanket with Caroline since it's been warm!
Also, to make up for my absence this week I've got 6 things today.
- ONE - Work has been insanely busy and I am so thankful to have ended several days this week with a family picnic and playtime on a blanket with Caroline since it's been warm!
- TWO - Last weekend I baked a triple batch of lactation cookies to drop off to 3 mommies! Here is the recipe that I love to use. When Caroline was born I went through many, many failed cookie recipes before finally perfecting an adapted recipe. If you're looking for a small "thinking of you" gift to drop off on the porch of your breastfeeding friend, this is it!
- TWO - Last weekend Matt and I had the most fun date night at The Melting Pot. I hadn't been there in years (and Matt had never been - what?!). It was a pregnant woman's DREAM -- loads of cheese fondue to start, followed by a meat and pasta course and topped off with a variety of desserts dipped into a pot of creamy peanut butter chocolate. Take me back!
- FIVE - I don't know why it is nearly impossible to find a yummy flavored DECAF coffee. I think I've been searching for two years now and finally found this delicious Cinnamon Vanilla Nut light roast from...Target!
- SIX - Saved the BEST for last! For those of you who have been thinking about and praying for my family, I want to thank you AGAIN! Back in December my dad was diagnosed with stage 3 lung, brain, spine and adrenal gland cancer (full story). The news hit us hard and we were prepared for the worst but prayerfully hoped for the best. That's where you all came in. For months I've received emails, texts, comments and more from you all who continue to check in and remind me that you are alongside our family in this journey. Your prayers have been so powerful and God has continued to heal dad in the past few months, bit by bit. We still have a long way to go but last week we received another miracle...Dad received the results from his brain scan - cancer free! Just like that, the Lord healed his brain! And a few weeks early we learned that the tumor in his lungs has shrunk from 6.4 to 2.4!
Please don't stop praying! There is still progress to be made and a long journey ahead but we are confident that the Lord is going to continue to heal dad! And I'm pretty sure that dad's doctors are the most prayed for doctors ever! Seriously, thank you, thank you, thank you! Our entire family is so blessed by you all!

ReplyDeleteI can't believe Caroline will be 1! I swear I was just looking at your pregnancy posts. :) And thanks for posting the cookie recipe. I'm due on Tuesday and will need all the help I can get in that department.
ReplyDeletePraise the LORD! That's wonderful news to get this weekend kicked off right...prayers still headed your way!!!
ReplyDeleteLove love love the Melting Pot!!! and the Power of Prayer is amazing! I am so happy to read that your father is cancer free.
ReplyDeleteThat is great news about your dad! I know the journey isn't over, but I'm so glad you all recieved positive news!
ReplyDeleteChristina, this is my first time to comment. I did not know about your dad's health but what a praise-worthy testimony of our God! Ah-MAZ-ing!! My husband and I LOVE the Melting Pot, but we don't have one in our area. Our favorite one to go to is in Memphis and everytime we get to that area, we make it a special night. I never believed my husband would enjoy it as much as he does, either. I think the TTLS theme for munchkin's birthday is such a unique and GRAND idea! Happy Friday, my friend!
ReplyDeleteAhh I think my comment deleted? Who knows! So happy for you and your family!! Did you ever figure out your car seat issue?? I ordered a Clek Fllo which should be here today and I cannot wait!!
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful news for your father and your family!! The power of prayer is simply amazing!
ReplyDeleteAwesome awesome news from you dad! Happy Friday :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad your dad is cancer free! That's great news! And yay for it being the first day of Spring!!! We are having a Twinkle Twinkle Little Star party for our Avery in May as well! I can't believe these babies will be 1 already! Time sure does fly.
ReplyDeleteI was so glad to see your post about your Dad improving - will continue to pray for you & your family!! The evening picnics look wonderful - how nice is this warm weather?! I am loving it!!
ReplyDeleteI love that y'all have been able to have picnics this week! I can't wait to be able to do that! I am so, so, so happy to hear this wonderful news about your dad!!! I love the theme of Caroline's birthday party too! However, I cannot believe she's almost 1!! Where does the time go!?!?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the decaf coffee recommendation! I love the melting pot, we've gone several times to celebrate our anniversary. :) Such a special place!
ReplyDeleteOh the Melting Pot! It is one of my favs! They literally know me when I walk in :) Have you ever tried mushrooms with the green goddess sauce in them? Try it next time. You'll thank me! Praise the Lord for an amazing scan for your dad. Continued prayers of healing and guidance for his doctors as they treat him! I absolutely love the theme for your daughter's birthday party. My daughter turns 1 in July and I'm already planning and crying. It goes by so fast doesn't it? Have a good weekend!

Isn't warm weather the best?? Nothing better than a picnic! Oh and I now want fondue for breakfast. :) Happy weekend pretty lady!
ReplyDeleteGod is SO good. I know I don't KNOW you but it makes my hear so happy to hear about this blessing for your family! And I am so jealous of your warm weekend outdoors-- we're expecting SNOW again tonight in Boston!
ReplyDeleteSo happy for your dad! AMAZING news! God is amazing!
ReplyDeleteWONDERFUL news!!!! What an awesome Friday!
ReplyDeleteThat is SUCH great news about your father, I am so happy you your family! My MIL was given 2-3 months to live this past November after receiving a secondary diagnosis of liver cancer (her primary was lung, but it was no longer present in her lungs)/ Fast forward to January and they could detect NO cancer in her liver, and they gave her a break from chemo for two months. This past Monday she had a follow up scan and she is STILL cancer free!! The power of prayer is real!
ReplyDeleteHow truly incredible!! God is good! Continuing to keep you all in my prayers. Happy Friday!!
ReplyDeletemy son will be one in a week. time is flying for us! can't wait to see her party details.
ReplyDelete-whit
So many blessings for you this week! Yay!
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear that about your dad. I got chills and tears in my eyes just knowing what an amazing answer to prayer that news was! Will continue to pray for him!!!:) And oh, how I remember being in party planning mode for Caleb's 1st birthday party this time last year. We did a "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" theme for him (albeit with blues and golds instead of pinks:) and loved how it turned out! If you need any pointers for decor or good vendors, let me know!:) This year, Caleb's birthday will be a lot smaller and more low-key (since his birthday is just 14 days after my due date!), but I am still thinking about ways to make it special for him:)
ReplyDeleteWOW. What amazing, wonderful, incredible news. Hope that the good news keeps rolling in for him.
ReplyDeleteSo good to hear about your dad! And your plans for Caroline's birthday look adorable. Happy weekend! :)
ReplyDeleteMy eyes filled with tears when I saw that text from your dad. I can't imagine what that must have felt like.
ReplyDeleteI'm pining those cookies and I can't wait to see pics from the sweet 1st birthday party!
Good news about your dad! Praise the Lord. Twinkle, twinkle little star, adorable, I bet you will do alot with this. Many children's books out there on this title, makes a nice gift.
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love that text from your dad! Happy heart!! Love the theme for Caroline's birthday!!
ReplyDeleteThat text from your dad is amazing, so happy for your family!
ReplyDeleteI am so happy to hear about your dad! Praise the Lord on that one!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all - WOW! More amazing news about your dad! That is so great! Prayer works!
ReplyDeleteSecondly - I'm sending my husband out to Target tomorrow for more baby stuff (surprise, surprise....we've almost run out of diapers for our 9 day old), and I put the coffee on his list! Thanks for the tip!
Ummmmm....those cookies look amazing! May have to give those a whirl.
And Melting Pot? Haven't been there in forever, but man - seeing this makes me want to go back soon!
Your little girl's party is going to be precious! Such wonderful and exciting news to receive about your Dad and his journey, we will keep praying! Xo, Stephanie
ReplyDeleteSO amazing about your dad... We will keep praying!! And it is crazy to me to think that Caroline is almost 1!! What??!
ReplyDeleteSuch great news on your Dad!! Praise the Lord! I am also one of those people who have never been to the Melting Pot. I don't think we have one in our area and it's just never on our radar - I hear great things about it though! :) Have fun preparing for the Big 1!!
ReplyDeleteI love this post especially the last one about your dad. My dad unfortunately did not successfully beat cancer over 7 years ago, but I LOVE that yours is doing awesome. I have a co-worker at my school who found out last school year she had cancer and is now cancer free. :) She just finished up radiation last week and is doing awesome. God is so so good! :)
