2014 Brews & BBQ

For the fifth year in a row Matt and his friends competed in the annual Brews & BBQ competition in Uptown Charlotte all weekend. We had gorgeous weather, delicious food, good music, interesting people-watching, fun friends and a very happy baby. It couldn't have been more perfect.

 The competition officially kicked off early Friday morning and the guys spent the day smoking ribs and Boston Butts, playing corn hole, drinking beer and hanging out. And just to make things a bit more official this year, Ryan designed t-shirts for their team.

 Later that day Lindsey, Caroline and I joined the party...

and took lots of pictures of course!

Around Caroline's bedtime Lindsey and I wished the guys luck and headed home. This year the guys got smart and brought cots, air mattresses and sleeping bags in hopes of getting some sleep in the middle of the street.

The next morning we got there as the judges were arriving to the tent to sample the BBQ! Matt gave the presentation to the judges and we conveniently placed a cute baby nearby in hopes that it would enhance their scores - ha!

Throughout the day we had lots of friends stop by the tent with their adorable minis. How cute is Katrina's 7 week old little man, Callahan? And yes, Caroline is 3 months older than him and weighs exactly the same. 

A little bit later April, Ian and Camille came by! It's been weeks since we've been able to get these baby girls together to play so when Camille showed up Caroline went crazy! She wouldn't stop reaching for Camille, smiling and holding her hand. It was absolutely precious.

Around 6:30 pm the judges announced the final results. Sadly, Matt's team didn't have the same luck as they did last year when they took home 3rd place in ribs. This year restaurants were allowed to participate so it was kind of impossible to go up against Macs BBQ and some of the other great places in town. Regardless, the guys had a ton of fun and that's all that really mattered. It was another great year of BBQ-festing!
